We believe in standardization. Maximum efficiency can be achieved through the use of nursing teams who are properly recruited and consistently trained. That is why American SurgiSite has a competency training manual we assemble for the various operating room positions, including the OR supervisor, head nurse, circulating nurse, OR technician, and ancillary staff.
Typically, once a nursing supervisor is selected, American SurgiSite assists in training the OR techs, circulating nurses, and pre- op/post- op staff in their roles. Cross-training the staff maximizes efficiencies so the ASC can function well throughout fluctuating personnel demands. We feel it is best to train from the ground up. As an example, we hire nursing staff from hospitals who may not be OR- trained and provide them with new skills and a new career path making the environment for the staff of the ASC an exciting and stimulating experience.
